What's the difference between cheap and expensive make up?

I rarely use make up, so I really don't know the difference. I decided to try some make up, but since I don't really use it, I bought some cheap 99 cent eye make up to see whether or not I should use it. I'm just wondering if cheap make up is also good or why isn't it good compared to an expensive make up?What's the difference between cheap and expensive make up?
the only difference is probably the $

try it and see if it worksWhat's the difference between cheap and expensive make up?
Several things come into play here: 1. Packaging, they charge more for this than the makeup itself. 2. Marketing and hype, 3. Most every foundation and makeup you pay big $$$ for has the same exact ingredients as the $8 one. 4. Private label items are huge, one end of Dillards Skin care charges $28 for an eye cream, just on the other side, another brand charges $100, exact same ingredients, different packaging from the same cosmetics lab.

I agree, try it, you will see they are not all so different, use an eye primer and you would never know with eye shadows. I learned all this in Specialty School, Skin, Makeup, Hair and Nails.
Cheap makeup is what you get for your money. Bad quality. It's most likely it has extra parabens (can cause cancer.), ingredients that can react and cause rashes on your skin, and products that have lead. (Especially in cheap with no big brand names).
Quality.

Expensive makeup like MAC tends to stay better, have better colors, and be better for your skin. Not to say that cheaper makeup can't be good too, but for 99 cents you can't really expect much.
The quality. More expensive makeup will look better and be easier to apply. You can, however, find pretty nice quality makeup in drugstores. :)
its all about the brands. high-end makeup has more quality and is well known to makeup artists. cheap makeup has less quality yet affordable for people on budget.
